SCAN-Lab Technical Notes 18: Using the SECM150 in a Controlled Atmosphere in a Glove Bag
Latest updated: August 4, 2021Introduction
Scanning ElectroChemical Microscopy (SECM) is highly applicable to the study of batteries. In recent years it has been used to investigate the Solid Electrolyte Interface (SEI), the composition of the battery electrodes, solid-state electrolytes, the degradation of the Li-ion electrodes [4], and intercalation/deintercalation of Li. To effectively perform SECM measurements of batteries, and other environmentally sensitive systems, it is necessary to control the atmosphere of the SECM measurements. One approach to control the atmosphere of the SECM measurement is to install the entire SECM instrument into the controlled atmosphere for the duration of the experiment, as can be done using a glove bag. This technical note describes how BioLogic’s SECM150 can be used within a controlled environment in a Glove Bag.
